I couldn’t help but notice how much my kids loved colour, learning, and exploring new ideas. We quickly grew tired of the same pastel watercolour wall decals—I wanted something more. Something bold, truly unique, and designed to challenge and spark curiosity in young minds.
That’s what led me to create Elavoland—a collection of wall decal prints that help create beautiful, imaginative spaces to love and nurture your little ones.
Growing up in South Africa, New Zealand, and now living in Sydney, Australia, I’ve had the privilege of seeing some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes. It’s given me a deep appreciation for the natural world and the unique colours and forms found across different environments—especially here in the land Down Under.
Art has always been a part of my life. I’ve drawn and painted for as long as I can remember. Even though I scored within the top 2% nationally for art design and received an art scholarship in high school, I never imagined I’d one day build something out of it.
Artists like Gretchen Albrecht, Karl Maughan, and David Hockney have deeply influenced me. Hockney’s transition to digital art in particular inspired my own process—blending traditional sketching and mixed media with modern tools like Procreate and Adobe Illustrator.
Each design starts with a burst of inspiration and is developed through ideation, sketching, and mixed media experimentation. From there, the final form is created digitally—carefully crafted to bring playfulness, wonder, and beauty into your home.
One thing I’ve learned from my work experience is this: always be looking. Whether you’re in a store, a park, or on holiday, the most beautiful things often appear when you slow down and take the time to really see.
I’m also deeply inspired by Oprah’s words:
“A home is a precious gift you give to yourself. And it gives back daily. What can be more important than the space where you live and breathe and thrive, surrounded by memories and treasures that fill you up?"
I hope you find joy, peace, and inspiration in the pieces I’ve created.
With love,
Elavoland
